Interlochen Construction Information

To upgrade the park’s water & sewer system and beach toilet building, the modern campground and day-use area east of J. Maddy Parkway will close this spring/summer. The Duck Lake Boating Access Site will remain open through May 28. After May 28, the site may intermittently open (depending on construction progress).

The Green Lake boating access site and rustic campground will remain open, but the sanitation station will be unavailable.

Another update will be posted May 21 here.

A proposed $3.57 million in federal relief funding from Gov. Whitmer’s Building Michigan Together Plan made these and other renovations possible.

Recreation Passport

The Recreation Passport is required for vehicle access to state parks and recreation areas, state-managed boating access sites, state forest campgrounds, thousands of miles of trails and other outdoor spaces – all year long! Learn how to get it, where it can take you and what it supports at Michigan.gov/RecreationPassport.

Hours: Campsite: Check-in for camping arrivals start at 3 p.m. and checkout is 1 p.m. Quiet hours: 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.; Campground office: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Thursday and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday – Saturday.

Alcohol

Possession of alcoholic beverages by minors is strictly prohibited.

Pets

Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control.
All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles.

Special camping rules

Campsites must be occupied each night after arrival. Two vehicles allowed per campsite. Visitors must leave by 10 p.m. Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings only and must never be left unattended. Do not burn garbage. Fireworks are prohibited.

Don’t move firewood!

Tree killers could be just one bundle of firewood away. Invasive insects and diseases have destroyed MILLIONS OF TREES in Michigan – often after hitching a ride on firewood.

Hauling firewood, even a short distance, from one part of the state to another is a common way for these invasive species to infest new locations. Please purchase only certified heat-treated firewood sold in state parks, local stores and roadside stands.
